Hey there, I'm thinking of buying an Alfa Network AWUS036H adapter (chipset: RTL8187L ), I want to use it under Windows XP. That XP driver needs to be virtualized under Windows 7 to get mac change working. I'm asking: Does the driver of AWUS036H (RTL8187L) support changing (spoofing) its MAC address under (native and not virtualized or emulated) Windows XP and is the common way (e.g. Registry hack or changing value of Locally Administered MAC Address in NIC's options) enough to do it? There are a few kinds of adapters that don't support spoofing their MAC under Windows XP, for example Broadcom's BCM4310 USB. The instructions that come with the driver are absolutely terrible — a complete waste. It’s not at all helpful to document screens on the app without any explanation of how or why they should be used. After installing the driver, there’s a new “RaLink” Wireless Utility, but after struggling with it for a couple hours, I can’t make it to anything. It’s not even a properly written application: you can’t apple-tab to it, you can’t paste data into it, and none of the settings seem to stick.
